Our bowling unit has begun! A big thank you to Park Center Lanes and Tracy Long for allowing us to use their equipment!!! The first week was spent creating bowling teams, learning procedures of the lanes, and proper form. We have 6 lanes. There are different colored circles around each lane represent a job: green-bowler, red-pin setter, blue--ball retriever, yellow--wait. To learn how to hold the bowling ball, the students were told to make a "Chiwawa" with their hand. They would leave the ears out when they put their fingers in the ball. The cue words they used were "sideways T", "tick-tock", "let go", and "hello". The older students learned the 4-step approach where they would "step (with the ball hand)", "step", "swing", "roll" and "follow through." We've been having a lot of fun playing different bowling games: group bingo, individual bingo, boys vs. girls strike contest, bowling pin relay. Ask your child what their favorite game is so far?
